Adele Mara..............Born Adelaide Delgado in 1925 Spanish-American Adele Mara was a singer/dancer with Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra in Detroit by the age of 15. Cugat took the beautiful brunette girl into New York in 1942, and in 1942, a Columbia talent agent signed her. There she played brisk leading women in a string of standard uneventful B films like Vengeance of the West (1942) with Tex Ritter and Alias Boston Blackie (1942) with Chester Morris. After signing to Republic Studios, she became the most glamorous blonde and platinum pinup a couple of years following. The majority of her roles were Senorita roles alongside Roy Rogers, in Bells of Rosarita in 1945, and Gene Autry's Twilight on the Rio Grande in 1947. Blackmail and Web of Danger were both criminal dramas she was a part in. Films with adventure themes like Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne in 1948 and The Avengers in 1950 also offered her some entertainment. Perhaps her most notable roles be in Angel In Exile (1948) as well as Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) the latter again starring Duke Wayne. Her talent as an actor wasn't always rewarded, and her acting career began to slide through the 1950s. The Big Circus (1959) featuring Victor Mature was her final performance. Adele changed from film to TV and made a couple of guest appearances in westerns mostly. Then, Adele decided to have children following her marriage to Roy Huggins.
